August 1945. Foyle probes the mysterious motives of James Devereaux, a former POW and member of the British Free Corps, who refuses to defend himself against treason charges. Meanwhile, Milner investigates the murder of a young woman rooming with the Devereaux family's housekeeper.

October 1940. At the London headquarters of a multinational company, a young secretary plummets to her death. In Hastings, a member of the Home Guard is killed. Foyle and Milner discover how these deaths are linked and how money talks a universal language, even in wartime.

After an assassination attempt on Hilda Pierce, Foyle examines her Special Operations Executive activities during the war and rumors of a traitor.

With tensions running high ahead of a high-level Palestinian conference, Foyle investigates a plot involving murder, espionage, and a terrorist threat.

October 1940. London is in the grip of the Blitz. In Hastings, the disappearance of a young boy and a break-in at a local food depot lead Foyle and his team to a "funk hole," a hotel catering to wealthy guests seeking a wartime retreat. There they discover a nest of cowardice, greed, and deceit.

December 1942. The death of Grace Phillips, a young worker in a local munitions factory, arouses suspicions. The subsequent murder of Detective Paul Milner's estranged wife, Jane, seems to confirm that Grace's death was no accident. But the evidence points to Milner himself as Jane's murderer.

Looking into the deaths of several high-ranking Russian defectors, Foyle finds ties to the apparent suicide of an unidentified Russian man and the disappearance of a young woman. His search leads him to a government listening station that may not be what it appears.

At a time when German nationals are being interned in British camps, the beautiful Austrian wife of a local magistrate is resented by locals. When she is found murdered, a swastika painted on a nearby tree, Foyle realizes the seemingly peaceful Sussex town harbors any number of suspects.

September 1940. Sam's boarding house is bombed and valuables disappear, alerting Foyle to an organized ring of looters. After the father of one of the suspected looters is found dead on the beach, Foyle and Milner's investigation leads them into conflict with British efforts to secure the donation of American Aid and the crucial start of Lend-Lease in the war.
